Recently, the first phase of Wuhan Metro Line 12, which was constructed with the participation of China Railway First Group, has been successfully put into operation. This longest subway loop in Asia meets the public as scheduled, further strengthening the Wuhan rail transit network and bringing a new and convenient experience to citizens' travel.

Overall Overview of the Line

The Wuhan Metro Line 12 has a total length of 59.9 kilometers and 37 stations, connecting the seven central urban areas of Qiaokou, Jianghan, Jiang'an, Qingshan, Hongshan, Wuchang, and Hanyang. It seamlessly connects the two major railway hubs of Wuchang Station and Hankou Station, and can also transfer with more than ten existing subway lines, successfully building a new pattern of "ring network interweaving" rail transit and effectively breaking down traffic barriers in various regions of the city.

The first phase of the project, which was opened this time, starts from Gangdu Huayuan Station in Qingshan District, passes through important sections such as Yuanlin Road, Tuanjie Avenue, and Shahu Avenue, and goes directly along Dong'an Road to the East Square of Wuchang Railway Station. It then crosses the Yangtze River from the north side of Baishazhou Bridge on Baisha Third Road, passes through Sixin South Road and Fangcao Road, and finally ends at Ink Lake Park Station in Hanyang District. The route covers multiple core business districts, residential areas, and transportation hubs, greatly improving the efficiency of cross river and cross regional travel.

Construction by China Railway First Group

China Railway First Group Xinyun Company undertook the construction work of the section from Gangdu Huayuan Station to Qingling Station, specifically responsible for the laying of 64.219 kilometers of track for 14 stations, 14 sections, and Banqiao parking lot, as well as the installation and construction of 66 sets of turnouts. Since the start of track laying operations in June 2024, all staff members of the project department have been closely monitoring the construction schedule goals, strictly adhering to the safety and quality bottom line, and promoting efficient implementation of the project through various measures such as optimizing construction organization and strengthening overall coordination.

In order to solve the construction difficulties and accelerate the construction progress, the project department has planned and deployed in advance. In response to the difficult and time-consuming construction of the 1.68-kilometer steel spring floating slab track bed, the steel cage of the floating slab was tied and stored properly during the construction gap, effectively shortening the construction period. At the same time, we will comprehensively expand the work surface and achieve the goal of "opening up as much as possible". By increasing manpower and equipment investment, we will make every effort to accelerate the construction process. During the construction period, the project department strengthened multi-party coordination, actively strengthened communication and coordination with the owner, supervisor, and relevant units, quickly promoted the handover of the work surface, and ensured the continuous progress of construction; Always strictly adhere to the safety and quality red line, carry out comprehensive and full process safety and quality monitoring, ensure zero accidents in construction safety, and meet engineering quality standards. With the joint efforts of all participating personnel, the project department achieved the mainline rail connection on May 20, 2025, and completed the track laying task of Banqiao parking lot on December 28, laying a solid foundation for the smooth operation of Wuhan Metro Line 12 Phase I.
