At 7:29 PM on May 22, 2026, a severe gas explosion occurred at the Liushenyu Coal Mine, operated by the Tongzhou Group in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province. As of now, the accident has claimed 90 lives, and search and rescue operations at the scene remain underway in full swing.

Immediately following the incident, Shanxi Province swiftly activated its emergency response mechanism, mobilizing over 400 personnel and specialized equipment to rush to the scene overnight. These teams are working around the clock to conduct search and rescue operations, provide medical treatment to the injured, and handle post-accident aftermath. Currently, the cause of the accident remains under further investigation.

Relevant authorities have now fully intervened in the matter, and restrictive measures have been legally imposed on the executives of the involved enterprise.
