In May 2026, the Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of Uzbekistan held talks with the Minister of Ecology and Environment of China, and the two sides finalized a series of cooperation projects, including the construction of a sandstorm warning system, the establishment of an environmental monitoring laboratory, and the construction of solid waste treatment infrastructure. At present, the two countries are building 11 Chinese funded cooperative waste incineration plants, which has become an important evidence of bilateral high trust cooperation.

Multi dimensional environmental cooperation project landing
The Ukrainian side proposed cooperation plans such as satellite climate research, upgrading dust monitoring, and optimizing environmental quality control systems, which have received full support from the Chinese side. Both sides have finalized measures such as jointly building an air and water quality monitoring laboratory, upgrading observation systems, and jointly hosting environmental forums. China will dispatch a team of experts to assist Ukraine in capacity building. The Chinese side thanks the Ukrainian side for its support to the Central Asian Desertification Prevention and Control Research Center, in which the Chinese Academy of Sciences participates.

The urgent need for ecological governance in the Central Asian region is highlighted
The sand and dust disasters and land degradation issues in Central Asia are prominent, and the ecological governance and environmental monitoring system have obvious shortcomings, which restrict regional sustainable development. Global green cooperation, desertification control, and desert economic development have become mainstream trends in cross-border cooperation. Uzbekistan urgently needs to introduce advanced technology, scientific research systems, and professional talents, improve environmental warning and pollution control mechanisms, and provide broad space for deep cooperation in the ecological field between China and Uzbekistan. China exports integrated green technology solutions
This cooperation is a key layout for China to deeply cultivate the green infrastructure and ecological service market in Central Asia. China relies on mature satellite monitoring, environmental governance, and solid waste treatment technologies to provide a complete set of solutions from multiple dimensions, including hardware infrastructure, technology implementation, scientific research exchanges, and talent empowerment. At the same time, relying on Ukrainian research institutions, we will build a regional desert economic cooperation platform, continuously improve the Central Asian ecological cooperation network, and assist in the standardized and systematic development of regional green industries.Editor/Gao Xue
