Recently, Chinalco Hong Kong, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinalco, in collaboration with Chinalco Guinea Mining Company and Chinalco Guinea Port Company, officially signed a revised and restated mining agreement with the government of Guinea in Conakry, clarifying the promotion of the construction of a 1.2 million ton annual alumina project in the Bofa region. This is another important international project launched by Chinalco in Guinea, following the Simandou iron ore project, with a total investment of approximately 1 billion US dollars.

The project is located in the Bofa bauxite mining area
The project is located in the Bofa region of Guinea, adjacent to the Bofa bauxite mine that has been put into operation by Chinalco. The construction includes an annual production line of 1.2 million tons of alumina, a thermal power system, a red mud storage yard, as well as supporting auxiliary facilities such as dedicated ports and highways. The proven recoverable reserves of the Bofa mining area are about 175 million tons, with a designed service life of 60 years. Since its commissioning in 2020, it has formed an annual bauxite production capacity of 15 million tons, providing stable resource guarantees for the project.

Localized processing in line with Guinea's resources
Guinea has approximately 25 billion tons of bauxite resources, accounting for nearly one-third of global reserves. For a long time, the local industrial structure has been dominated by the export of raw ore, and the processing capacity of alumina is limited. The implementation of this project not only aligns with Guinea's development direction of promoting localized resource processing, but also provides support for the local industrialization process. The mining company will gradually promote the supply of alumina projects and moderately increase the scale of exported minerals. Keywords: Domestic new energy latest news、New energy latest reports

Improve the overseas layout of the Two Seas Strategy
This project is the first overseas alumina project of Aluminum Corporation of China, and it is also an important step for the company to promote its two seas strategy and improve its overseas aluminum industry layout. After the completion of the project, it will form a complete overseas industrial chain for Guinea bauxite mining, local alumina processing, and domestic electrolytic aluminum production. While enhancing the stability of raw material supply, it will also improve the company's global resource allocation and international operation capabilities. As the project progresses, the synergistic advantages of the company's bauxite and alumina industry chains in Guinea are expected to be further released.Editor/Gao Xue
