Enilchek Village, located at an altitude of nearly 3000 meters, is deeply hidden in the folds of the Tianshan Mountains in Issyk Kul, Kyrgyzstan. For the children in the village high school, the world used to only have snow capped mountains, grasslands, and occasionally disconnected radio waves. Until May 23, 2026, a small white satellite antenna was set up on campus, and a blue signal light came on, allowing them to see real-time images of the mountains on the screen for the first time. At this moment, Kyrgyzstan officially appeared on the global coverage map of Starlink, and this high mountain village became the starting point for the country's digital breakthrough.

Xueshan Classroom Networking

On May 25th, Kassem Aliyev, the Chairman of the Cabinet and Director of the Presidential Office of Kyrgyzstan, established a video link with the teachers and students of Enilicek High School through the newly established satellite network. This school, which has been isolated from the world for a long time due to its complex geographical location and lack of ground facilities, has become the first social institution in the country to realize high-speed Internet connection through the star chain system.

Kassemaliev congratulated the teachers and students and emphasized that digitalization of education is a priority direction of national policy. In order to transform technology into practical teaching power, he represented the government in transferring 5 modern computers to schools for equipping teaching rooms, and instructed the Ministry of Education to connect the school to all national education information systems in the shortest possible time to ensure that teachers and students can access digital textbooks and electronic databases.

National Internet Access Plan

The successful integration of Enilchek village marks a substantial step forward for Kyrgyzstan in addressing the issue of digital divide. At the launch ceremony, Kassemaliev announced that there are currently only six schools located in extremely remote areas in the country that have not yet been connected to the internet. The next priority of the government is to use satellite Internet technology to provide high-quality and stable network connections for the last six schools, so as to ensure that no corner is excluded from the information age.

This progress is also part of the wave of communication infrastructure in Central Asia. Neighboring Kazakhstan has launched Starlink services in August 2025, and neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan plan to follow suit in 2026, aiming to use low orbit satellite technology to solve the coverage problem in vast mountainous and border areas.

Star Chain's global expansion

The access of Kyrgyzstan is a microcosm of Starlink's global network expansion. By March 2026, the number of satellite chains in orbit has reached nearly 10000, providing Internet services for tens of millions of users in 164 countries and regions around the world. In Asia, with the approval of Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia and other countries, Star Chain is building a space Internet covering the entire region. For mountainous countries, this technology is a key alternative solution to compensate for the high cost and long cycle of traditional fiber optic and base station construction.keywords:Infrastructure News,Central Asia

With the power on of the Starlink terminal, the children of Enilicek High School saw the classroom in the capital city of Bishkek for the first time through real-time video. For Kyrgyzstan, this is not only a technological upgrade, but also a profound practice on educational equity and border development.Editor/Yang Meiling
