On June 2, the 2026 the Belt and Road Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference will be officially opened in Sichuan, bringing together the wisdom and strength of the global overseas Chinese community. It is reported that this conference is jointly hosted by the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the People's Government of Chongqing City. It is a vivid practice of the collaborative model between provinces and cities, and the rotation of meetings between Sichuan and Chongqing. With the support of cross regional cooperation mechanisms, efforts are being made to build a high-level platform for cooperation and exchange in the overseas Chinese community.

In July 2025, the first conference was successfully held in Chongqing, attracting more than 500 overseas Chinese representatives from over 110 countries and regions around the world to participate in negotiations. A total of 66 cooperation projects were implemented, with a total signed amount of 43.79 billion yuan. Centered around the development layout of the 33618 modern manufacturing industry cluster in the city, Chongqing has regularly carried out characteristic economic and trade activities such as the Qiaolian New Channel and Chongqing Jianxin Chongqing, helping more than 80 high value-added local products such as high-end equipment and new energy vehicles to set sail overseas with the help of Qiaolian forces, and continuously polishing the global characteristic foreign trade brands of Chongqing Car and Chongqing Trade.
