On June 5, 2026, the Investment Promotion Management Committee of the Lao government and CGN Energy Technology (Laos) Co., Ltd. completed the PDA signing in Vientiane, and the 50 MW biomass power generation project in Mengsai County, Oudomxay Province officially started construction.

This signing signifies that the project has fully entered the implementation phase. This is also Laos' first large-scale biomass power generation project, with an annual power generation capacity of over 300 million kilowatt hours after completion, which will effectively strengthen the country's energy security foundation.

The project relies on local agricultural and forestry waste and energy crops as raw materials for power generation, and builds a supporting fuel storage system to create an integrated development model of energy and agriculture. It can not only create employment opportunities and increase residents' income, but also help Udomsa Province and even the whole country to embark on a green and sustainable development path.

This project can complement and collaborate with wind and photovoltaic projects, providing solid support for building a stable and efficient new power system in the local area. Keywords: Laos, biomass power generation, new energy

The signing event will be held at the office of the Investment Promotion Management Committee of Vientiane City. Vice Chairman and Deputy Minister of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee of Laos, Peng Wan Utaong, Deputy Governor of Udomxay Province, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Public Works and Transport, Chairman of CGN Energy Technology (Laos) Co., Ltd. Jia Xianyu, and representatives from various sectors attended the ceremony together.Editor/Gong Ziwei
