From January 1 to June 4, 2026, China Laos Railway will transport more than 130000 tons of imported fruits, with a year-on-year growth of more than 40%. Among them, durian exceeded 120000 tons, a year-on-year increase of over 56%.

Since 2026, the demand for tropical fruits such as durian, banana, and mangosteen from Southeast Asian countries to export to China has remained strong. Since April, tropical fruits in Southeast Asia have been concentrated on the market, and the daily import volume of fruits transported by the China Laos railway is up to 3941 tons.

To ensure that fruits produced in Southeast Asian countries arrive fresh in the hands of Chinese consumers, the Chinese railway department, in conjunction with customs and relevant enterprises, has opened a green channel for fresh food inspection, implementing priority entry, priority inspection, and priority delivery to ensure zero waiting time for fresh fruit transportation and significantly shorten the stay time of fruits at ports.

The relevant person in charge of Kunming Railway Bureau of China Railway Corporation introduced that the China Laos Thailand all railway cold chain special train has achieved normal operation, and Southeast Asian tropical fruits can directly reach the Chinese market in as fast as 3 days. With the continuous entry of durian produced in Southeast Asian countries into the Chinese market, the price of durian in the Chinese market has significantly decreased compared to the beginning of the year.Editor/Gong Ziwei
