CGCOC Completes Adama Urban Water Supply Project in Ethiopia

On July 7, 2026 local time, the completion ceremony of the Adama Urban Water Supply Project, constructed by CGCOC, was held. Government officials including Asfaw Dingamo, Deputy Minister of Water Energy of Ethiopia, Hailu, Mayor of Adama City, and Million, Director of the Orom State Water Energy Bureau, attended the ceremony and jointly cut the ribbon for the project. CGCOC Vice General Manager Liu Weiqiang attended the ceremony on behalf of the company.

The Ethiopian officials attending the event fully affirmed the timely and high-quality delivery of the project, unanimously believing that the project has important milestone significance in improving the living and health level of local citizens and driving the long-term development of the city. They highly recognized CGCOC's professional technical strength, refined project management ability, and efficient execution level demonstrated throughout the entire performance cycle. The Mayor of Hailu also specially awarded honorary trophies to the company, recognizing its outstanding contributions to the development of the local city and the improvement of people's well-being.

In his speech, Liu Weiqiang thanked the Ethiopian Federal Government and the Adama Municipal Government for their strong support to the company, and expressed gratitude to the project partners for their tremendous contributions to the smooth delivery of the project. Liu Weiqiang stated that CGCOC will take the successful delivery of this project as a new starting point, based on the long-term cooperation between China and Africa, continue to adhere to high standards of performance, deepen infrastructure cooperation between China and Ethiopia, contribute Chinese strength to the economic and social development of Ethiopia with reliable engineering quality, and write a new chapter in the friendship between China and Ethiopia.

The Adama Urban Water Supply Project is supported by funding from the African Development Bank and the Ethiopian government, with a designed daily water supply capacity of 77000 cubic meters. As an important livelihood project in Adama City, its completion will greatly alleviate the water shortage of local residents, lay a solid foundation for urban health and economic and social development, and receive widespread recognition and unanimous praise from local citizens.Editor/Min Jing
