When people talk about solar thermal power generation, the image that often comes to mind is the scorching sun in the Gobi Desert. But in Tongyu, Jilin, in the cold wind of minus 30 ℃, a 100 MW tower type solar thermal power station has just completed two key milestones - the turbine cylinder locking and the reverse power transmission of the plant power system were successfully completed once. This is the world's first tower type solar thermal power station in high latitude and high-altitude regions, and also the first solar thermal project of State Power Investment Corporation in Northeast China. Its significance goes far beyond a power station itself.
Two major nodes connect the power artery
The steam turbine cylinder clamping can be regarded as the heart surgery of photothermal projects. From basic treatment, bearing maintenance, cylinder assembly to precision shaft adjustment and flow clearance calibration, all key processes have been completed to high standards, and all acceptance indicators have been qualified. At 17:17 on June 7th, the power supply system of the plant was successfully reversed once. The 35 kV power from the photovoltaic field was introduced into the solar thermal plant area through the backup transformer, stably carrying the entire plant's 6 kV and 380 V equipment, and completing the high and low voltage electrical system wiring verification in one go.

The two major milestones have been successfully completed, marking the completion of the main installation and the full integration of the power system. The project adopts tower type molten salt technology route, equipped with an 8-hour thermal storage system, with an annual power generation of about 167 million kilowatt hours and an annual carbon dioxide reduction of about 140000 tons. During construction, the team improved efficiency through stress optimization of the main steam pipeline and shading optimization of the heliostat area. With the support of 31 sets of high-definition cameras and facial recognition, a smart construction site was built, and a grid responsibility area and VR experience area were established to strengthen the safety defense line.
domestically pioneered
The biggest highlight of the project is the adoption of a 40 MW, 6 kV direct connected molten salt electric heater for the first time in China, completely changing the traditional 380 V low-voltage resistance heating method in the industry. Directly connecting to 6 kV high voltage electricity, eliminating the need for step-down transformers and low voltage distribution cabinets, significantly reducing investment and land occupation; The distribution efficiency is as high as 99.7%, effectively suppressing the heat loss of high current lines; Innovative box type casing circulation structure eliminates local overheating hazards; Single head components support half day tube replacement without the need for shutdown; Fully welded shell with integrated heat tracing for both hot and cold ends, suitable for the harsh cold environment in Northeast China.

This giant molten salt power bank can consume approximately 20 million kilowatt hours of wind, solar, and photovoltaic power annually, converting green electricity into thermal energy and storing it in molten salt for power generation. It provides a promotable model for the selection of energy storage equipment in the Shage Huang large base. The successful lighting of the solar thermal flame on the Northeast wasteland at minus 30 ℃ proves that China's solar thermal technology has the ability to expand to high latitude cold regions. This is not only a breakthrough for a power station, but also a clear signal for the northward extension of the new energy landscape.Editor/Cheng Liting
