On June 11,2026, the construction site of the upper reservoir of Miluo Pumped Storage Power Station in Hunan Province, China was busy, and the construction machinery was in place in an orderly manner. As the excavation operation was officially launched, new construction dust was raised on the site. A group of participants gathered at the site to witness the important construction node of the main dam excavation. The landing of this construction action marks that the project has completely bid farewell to the preparatory stage and officially entered the crucial stage of large-scale substantive construction. 

Energizing Hunan energy development 

As a key energy project in the 14 th Five-Year Plan of China, Miluo Pumped Storage Power Station is a key project to optimize the energy structure and build a new power system in Hunan Province. After the completion of the project, it can undertake the basic functions of power grid peak shaving, frequency modulation, phase modulation, energy storage and so on in an all-round way. At the same time, it has emergency support capabilities such as system backup and black start, which can effectively stabilize regional power load and improve the stability of power grid operation. The start-up of the main dam excavation construction is an important milestone in the project construction, which lays a solid foundation for the subsequent dam filling, reservoir impoundment and other construction links. 

Make a solid preparation for construction 

Since the construction of the project, the project department has adhered to the construction principle of safety and quality priority and steadily promoted various preliminary work. In view of the construction difficulties such as complex geological conditions and strict environmental protection standards in the main dam area, the project department plans and deploys in advance, steadily promotes the preparation and expert demonstration of super-dangerous large-scale engineering schemes, and completes temporary road construction, safety technology disclosure, blasting operation license and other pre-work.
