On June 12, 2026, Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding visited Manicalan Province and attended the handover ceremony of China's 300 water well project in Zimbabwe with the local government and Minister of Public Works Galway and Deputy Minister of Information Marupi, and delivered speeches. Nearly a thousand local officials and villagers participated in the event in Tianjin.

Ambassador Zhou stated that in order to help Tianjin cope with hurricane disasters and severe droughts, China has spent nearly two years assisting in the construction of 300 water wells in four provinces of Tianjin, benefiting 75000 people, providing clean drinking water and improving sanitation and health conditions for the affected areas. China will continue to implement the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and support Zimbabwe in addressing climate change and improving people's livelihoods.

Galway expressed gratitude to China for providing long-term assistance in the field of people's livelihood in Tianjin. He said that these wells are another symbol of traditional friendship between Tianjin and China, and will effectively promote the realization of Tianjin's "National Development Strategy 2" and "2030 Vision".Editor/Gong Ziwei
