The sunshine of June in Ashgabat shone on the long table in the Presidential Palace conference hall. When Turkmenistan's President Sherdar Berdymukhamedov and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sat down side by side, the venue was filled with warm applause - this international scientific and practical conference called "Turkmenistan Malaysia: 30 Years of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Field" is not only looking back at the achievements of the past 30 years, but also pressing the button for the next stage of energy marriage. At the scene, Soil and Stone Oil Konzern, Turkish National Oil and Gas Company, and Petronas Malaysia's subsidiary companies exchanged documents one by one, including product sharing agreements, two-dimensional seismic exploration cooperation agreements, natural gas Konzern cooperation agreements, and framework agreements between the two governments on long-term cooperation in the development of hydrocarbon resources, which were signed and came into effect one by one.

Turkmenistan has approximately 19.5 trillion cubic meters of proven natural gas reserves, ranking fourth in the world. Its Caspian Sea area is regarded by the energy industry as a highly potential undeveloped region; Petronas, the Malaysian national oil company, is one of the earliest Asian strategic investors introduced by Turkey. This new agreement grants Petronas 100% participation rights in the 19th and 20th offshore blocks of the Caspian Sea, and the two sides will also conduct 2D seismic exploration on blocks 11, 12, 13, and 14.

The President of Turkmenistan reviewed at the meeting that since entering the Turkmenistan market in 1996, Petronas has invested approximately $12 billion in the local oil and gas industry. During the cooperation period, both parties built a total of 5 offshore platforms in the Caspian Sea and completed approximately 40 drilling operations, including exploration wells, evaluation wells, and production wells, laying the foundation for subsequent large-scale development.

At present, the development work of the three major oil fields of Mahtumkuli, Diyarbakir, and Gallagher Johnny's is still progressing. In the near future, both sides also plan to launch industrial development of the Ovez and Mashrekov oil fields to further expand the scale of oil and gas production along the Caspian Sea coast.keywords:Engineering infrastructure

According to the newly signed product sharing agreement, Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Ltd. will jointly develop the 19th and 20th offshore blocks of the Caspian Sea with Turkey; The cooperation agreement for two-dimensional seismic exploration covers blocks 11 to 14, aiming to understand the geological background and identify more valuable oil and gas structures. Prime Minister Anwar stated that the oil and gas sector has always been a top priority for bilateral cooperation, and the signing of this series of documents signifies a new height in the relationship between the two countries.Editor/Yang Meiling
