On June 26, 2026, the construction of a 100-megawatt energy storage project was launched in Heyang County, Shaanxi Province, with a total investment of 980 million yuan. The project adopts safe and long-lasting all-vanadium redox flow technology to improve the local source-grid-load-storage system, facilitate the large-scale development of new energy in Shaanxi, and create a demonstration model for green energy construction in county areas.  

The Heyang Economic Development Zone witnessed the commencement of a major project in the energy sector, with representatives from multiple provincial and municipal financial and equipment manufacturing enterprises present to witness the event. The project, fully funded and constructed by local energy enterprises, is the first large-capacity long-duration independent energy storage project in Weinan. Relying on the abundant local wind and solar resources, it will effectively balance regional power supply and demand upon completion, fully unlocking the potential for new energy development in the county.  

Basic overview of the project

The energy storage power station, owned by Shaanxi Guihua Energy, boasts a total investment of 980 million yuan and covers an area of 38,900 square meters. It is planned to deploy a 120MW/480MWh all-vanadium redox flow energy storage system, accompanied by a dedicated 110kV booster station. The project will commence comprehensive construction in 2026 and is expected to be completed and connected to the grid for operation in the third quarter of 2027. The site will be equipped with 240 sets of 2MWh battery modules and integrate 30 sets of 4MW/16MWh energy storage complete equipment, offering significant advantages in safety and service life compared to traditional energy storage devices.  

Multiple development values

After being put into operation, the project can serve multiple purposes. It can regulate the grid load by storing electricity during off-peak periods and delivering it during peak periods, thereby enhancing the stability of power supply. During the construction and operation phase, a large number of local jobs will be created, attracting the establishment of upstream and downstream energy storage industries and driving local economic development.
