On July 2, 2026, the opening ceremony of the first Xinjiang Africa route of the Western Land Sea New Corridor and the first ship of sea rail intermodal transportation was held at the Yucheng Port Area of Fangcheng Port in Guangxi.
The first vessel of this route is the "Hengsheng" ship, with a total length of 300 meters. It is fully loaded with over 205000 tons of African non-ferrous metal raw materials and docks at Fangcheng Port. This batch of goods will rely on the railway network of the Western Land Sea New Channel to directly reach the industrial hinterland of Xinjiang from Fangcheng Port, achieving a closed-loop land sea linkage industrial chain of "overseas resource import coastal port distribution local industry landing".
This channel, with Fangchenggang as the core hub of land sea two-way intersection, has opened up a new long-distance ocean sea rail intermodal logistics link. It is currently the longest logistics new channel in China from Africa to Fangchenggang in Guangxi and Xinjiang.
The Fangchenggang Maritime Bureau has provided full cycle maritime security for the opening of this route. During the berthing period of the first ship, the maritime department relies on the intelligent maritime supervision system to monitor the ship's dynamics in real time, and links with port dispatch, pilot stations, meteorological bureaus and other units to track meteorological and sea conditions in real time, improve emergency response mechanisms, and ensure the safe and smooth navigation of the first ship.Editor/Yang Meiling
