Tashkent in spring is witnessing a new pulse of energy cooperation between China and Ukraine. The handshake between Song Dayong, Vice General Manager of China National Petroleum Corporation, and Abdulgany Sanginov, Chairman of Uzbekistan National Oil and Gas Company, continued the strategic plan made by Dai Houliang, Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation, during his visit to Uzbekistan in October last year, and also continued the consensus reached at the special meeting in February this year. This is not only a work review, but also a 'deployment of troops' for the future. As the talks deepen, a series of new deployments related to energy security and development between the two countries have been implemented, marking that China Ukraine oil and gas cooperation is moving from simple resource development to a deep-water area of technology, standards, and equipment output.

Escort cross-border arteries
Smooth energy cooperation is key. As the core carrier of China Ukraine energy interconnection, the cross-border pipeline operated by the China Ukraine natural gas pipeline joint venture is the "lifeline" to ensure regional energy security. In this meeting, both sides focused on the long-term stable operation of the pipeline network. No longer satisfied with basic gas transmission indicators, both parties have decided to seek benefits from refined management. By optimizing operation and maintenance mechanisms, upgrading station equipment, and refining working condition control, the safety factor and transmission efficiency of the pipeline system will be comprehensively improved. This series of measures aims to ensure that this energy corridor spanning Central Asia can withstand various risks and continuously and stably deliver clean energy to the domestic market.

Challenge six kilometers underground
If pipelines are arteries, then the deep exploration project located in Ustyurt is the vanguard advancing towards the depths of the Earth. Both parties have locked in from 2026 to 2028 to advance 30 exploration wells with depths ranging from 5500 meters to 6000 meters in the block. This is a tough nut to crack, with high-pressure salt layers intertwined with easily collapsing strata, and the high temperature and pressure environment posing a rigorous test of equipment performance. To this end, China will mobilize heavy drilling rigs and special downhole tools. This is not only a geological exploration battle, but also a collective "going global" combat of domestically produced deep well drilling equipment, high-temperature and salt resistant mud and other cutting-edge technologies. It is expected to set a "Chinese benchmark" for complex geological construction in the Central Asian market.

Awaken the old fields with new vitality
In Boysun District, the technical rectification work of the "25th anniversary of independence" gas field has been put on the fast track. In response to the hidden dangers in the gas field, both sides will coordinate and allocate China's professional technical strength and engineering equipment, and strictly promote governance in accordance with international standards. At the same time, relying on the platform advantages of the New Silk Road Oil and Gas Co., Ltd., both parties will deepen cooperation in dynamic monitoring of oil and gas reservoirs, development adjustments, and improving recovery rates, and tap into the potential of old blocks. In addition, green and low-carbon have become new growth points for cooperation, and both sides will jointly explore low-carbon mining and clean utilization technologies for natural gas, promoting the development of China Ukraine energy cooperation towards higher quality and sustainability.
As these projects take root, the connotation of China Ukraine energy cooperation continues to enrich. For domestic oil and gas engineering, equipment manufacturing, and technical service enterprises, a Central Asian market based on deep mutual trust and continuous demand release is presenting unprecedented opportunities.Editor/Yang Meiling
