The railway tracks trembled without stopping, and the container loaded with Yangtze River Delta department stores had just been unloaded at Tianjin International Land Port and was already distributed to Wanjia in Beijing and Hebei in less than half a day. This steel artery that crosses China is quietly rewriting the north-south logistics map with a two-day delivery rhythm.

The Shanghai Tianjin intercity freight train, which will operate normally in April 2026, will have stable transportation and continuous growth in cargo volume. As of early July, a total of 20 trains have been operated, carrying 800 TEUs, establishing a stable freight channel from the Yangtze River Delta to the core hub of Beijing Tianjin Hebei.

The route is operated by Tianjin International Land Port and adopts an integrated logistics model of mainline railway combined with terminal distribution. The train departs from Shanghai Minhang Station and arrives at Tianjin International Land Port and Xingang North Station, with a stable transportation time of two days throughout the journey. After the goods arrive at Tianjin Land Port, relying on the advantages of local hubs and a complete distribution network, distribution and delivery can be completed on the same day. The service scope covers multiple districts in Tianjin, Tongzhou, Shunyi, Chaoyang in Beijing, and Langfang in Hebei, radiating to surrounding cities such as Tangshan and Cangzhou, fully matching the regional freight demand.

One stop logistics received high praise

Guo Chunning, General Manager of Tianjin International Land Port, introduced that the three major advantages of controllable delivery time, wide coverage, and integrated operation make this route the preferred channel for transporting goods from the Yangtze River Delta to North China. Compared to traditional scattered railway freight transportation, intercity train transportation is more secure and has faster turnover speed, providing a complete set of door-to-door logistics services and connecting the entire logistics chain from the Yangtze River Delta to the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region.

The integrated transportation mode has been unanimously recognized by logistics enterprises. Qiu Zaifeng, the head of the supply chain at Shanghai Guanlei, said that in the past, multiple transportation routes to the Beijing Tianjin corridor had to be planned separately, which was costly and covered in fragmented areas; Nowadays, with Tianjin as a transit hub, a single trunk line can radiate the entire Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, significantly reducing the cost of route planning, expanding market scope, simplifying the docking process, stabilizing the entire supply chain, and facilitating long-term cooperation. The line is equipped with 40 foot and 50 foot standard containers, which can carry various types of goods such as daily necessities, food, automotive parts, lubricants, etc. Keywords: Tianjin International Land Port, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing Tianjin Hebei

Improve the north-south freight corridor

Starting from August, Tianjin International Land Port plans to increase the frequency of this train to five times a week, while vigorously exploring return cargo sources and improving the north-south railway logistics channel. Continuously promoting the shift from road freight transportation to railway transportation, supporting regional green and low-carbon development, and providing support for high-quality development of the real economy.Editor/Gong Ziwei
