Recently, in the afternoon of Riyadh, an agreement on the future of artificial intelligence was officially finalized at the signing table. Magna AI and Saudi based company Emaar Executive Company have jointly announced the construction of a sovereign AI infrastructure throughout Saudi Arabia. This is the first national level AI infrastructure project jointly promoted by local developers and international AI technology suppliers in the Middle East, marking a substantial step for Saudi Arabia in the fields of data sovereignty and digital autonomy. Both parties have signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which plans to cover the planning, development, and delivery of AI data centers, AI factory infrastructure, secure AI platforms, and large-scale AI transformation projects. In the future, it will also extend to the Middle East and North Africa markets.

Technical and engineering teams collaborate

Magna AI was established in collaboration between Trend Micro and Wistron Digital Technology Holdings, with technical support provided by Nvidia. It leads AI factory architecture, platform development, and AI security and governance. Emaar Executive Company has strong capabilities in the fields of engineering, procurement and construction, system integration, and infrastructure services, responsible for EPC execution, data center construction, civil engineering, electromechanical and weak current system integration, on-site project management, facility maintenance, and regulatory coordination. The two companies have entered into a complementary cooperation architecture by focusing on both technical architecture and engineering implementation.

Sovereign AI infrastructure

This cooperation focuses on three major directions. One is the nationwide deployment of AI data centers and AI factory infrastructure, providing computing power support for Saudi Arabia's governments and enterprises at all levels. The second is the construction of a secure AI platform to ensure data residency and network security compliance, meeting the requirements of localized operations. The third is the full lifecycle service of large-scale AI transformation projects, covering site selection assessment, feasibility study, system integration, energy and cooling optimization, and long-term operation and maintenance. The target customers for cooperation include government entities, regulated industries, large enterprises, startups, and academic institutions. Full chain closed-loop service

The cooperation between both parties runs through the entire lifecycle of infrastructure, from the initial development stage to long-term operation. Specific services include site selection assessment and business case development, AI data center system integration, energy cooling and sustainability optimization, as well as secure and compliant operations that comply with Saudi data residency and network security requirements. This fully closed-loop service model from planning to operation is the first of its kind in the field of AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. The CEO of Magna AI stated that the strength of sovereign AI depends on the stability of its underlying infrastructure, which must be built and operated to the highest engineering standards within Saudi Arabia. The CEO of EEC stated that by combining the advantages of EPC system integration with AI factory expertise, both parties have the ability to build and operate data center infrastructure that supports Saudi Arabia's AI strategic blueprint.Editor/Gao Xue
