Dubai's urban expansion is steadily progressing, and the first phase of excavation for the local metro blue line tunnel has been successfully completed. The project relies on China Railway Equipment's self-developed shield tunneling equipment to significantly shorten the construction period, and the excavation efficiency has doubled compared to earlier years. This project is the core project of Dubai's 2040 urban planning, with multiple domestic rail transit companies participating in equipment and system matching simultaneously, fully demonstrating China's overseas competitiveness in high-end infrastructure equipment.

Efficient shield tunneling
The project is equipped with three 9.61-meter diameter earth pressure balance shield machines. The equipment used this time is 163 meters long and weighs over 2000 tons, which can be constructed continuously around the clock. The equipment integrates digital guidance and automatic assembly functions, with an average daily excavation of 30 meters. The first phase of construction was completed in just two months, far exceeding the average daily progress of 12 meters for subway construction in 2007. The equipment is equipped with a full range of construction tools, suitable for various local strata, and achieves integrated output of complete sets of equipment.
Full chain collaborative overseas expansion
The Blue Line has a total length of 30 kilometers and a tunnel section of 14 kilometers, with a total contract amount of approximately 5.6 billion US dollars. It is jointly constructed by Chinese and foreign land enterprises. China CRRC supplies 28 fully automatic subway trains, China Railway Signal&Communication is responsible for communication signal integration, and Sany Heavy Industry is responsible for transporting double wheel construction equipment. Multiple companies are simultaneously laying out local research and development laboratories, delving into intelligent scheduling and operation technology to help improve Dubai's comprehensive rail transit network. The line is expected to be opened in 2029, and after completion, it will optimize urban commuting efficiency. This project will become a benchmark for domestic rail transit equipment and signal systems to go global, continuously expanding the overseas market space of China's high-end infrastructure.Editor/Min Jing
