Expanding production capacity and promoting localized construction of fast charging network
On July 8, 2026, Ukrainian Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Kudlatov met with BYD Cao Shuang, and both sides confirmed the promotion of the construction of the second phase of the joint venture factory in Jizhak Oblast. The plan is to gradually increase the annual production capacity from the existing 50000 vehicles to 200000 vehicles and introduce pure electric vehicles, with a focus on increasing the proportion of local procurement of core components such as battery packs, battery casings, and wiring harnesses in Uzbekistan. The goal is to achieve an overall localization rate of over 50% by 2027. The talks will clarify the enhancement of the factory's ability to export complete vehicles to member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and explore the participation of BYD in the construction of a new energy vehicle DC fast charging network covering the entire territory of Ukraine, to match the annual compound high growth demand of the local electric vehicle market. The Belt and Road Capacity Cooperation Opens New Space
The Guangdong local government has taken the lead in promoting the integration of advantageous industries in Zhongshan with local parks in Ukraine, coupled with BYD's systematic layout in manufacturing, supply chain, and charging infrastructure. This marks the completion of the transformation of China Ukraine economic and trade cooperation from individual project investment to deep cooperation across the entire industry chain, including research and development collaboration, localized supply chain cultivation, regional distribution and export, and after-sales support. Uzbekistan is becoming a key manufacturing and entrepot base for China's new energy vehicles going to sea by virtue of its location advantage of being adjacent to Central Asian countries and the zero tariff channel of the Eurasian Economic Union. This practical operation mode of government enterprise linkage and central local coordination provides a new model that can be replicated for international production capacity cooperation along the the Belt and Road.Editor/Yang beihua
