The wind on the banks of the Syr Darya River is blowing the banner of industrial transformation in the hinterland of Central Asia. On the industrial map of Uzbekistan, a car company from the East is shifting from rooting to branching out. As government ministers shake hands with regional leaders once again, a new blueprint for the future on wheels is slowly unfolding on the fertile ground of Jizhak Oblast.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan has announced that on July 8, 2026, its Minister Raziz Kudlatov held a working meeting with Cao Shuang, the regional head of BYD in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Both parties have had sufficient communication regarding the cooperation project, with the focus on the operational status of the electric vehicle manufacturing project in Jizhak Prefecture. During the meeting, both sides exchanged development ideas on expanding factory production, increasing the proportion of local component matching, and expanding overseas export channels. At the same time, both parties discussed improving the supporting facilities in the factory area, enhancing the export supply capacity of complete vehicles, and also discussed new cooperation contents such as laying out electric vehicle fast charging stations throughout Ukraine.
