On July 14, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Solomon Islands, Honipuvira, in Beijing.

Wang Yi congratulated the new government of Solomon Islands on its inauguration and stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Solomon Islands in 2019, bilateral relations have maintained strong development, and visible and tangible results have been achieved in exchanges and cooperation in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the people of Solomon Islands. It has been proven that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Soviet Union is in line with the interests of the two peoples, the trend of the times, and on the correct side of history. China is willing to work together with the new government to deepen dialogue and communication at all levels, continue good cooperation in various fields, understand, support and trust each other, and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the new era to a new level.

Wang Yi expressed that China appreciates the new government's firm adherence to the One China principle, which will effectively maintain the political foundation of bilateral relations and provide necessary conditions for deepening mutual cooperation. China maintains continuity and stability in its policies towards all parties, always supporting them in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence, and legitimate rights and interests, and pursuing a development path of independent choice. The cooperation between China and the other party shall not be subject to political conditions, imposed on others, or empty promises. We are willing to strengthen the docking of our development strategies, promote high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", expand practical cooperation in green energy and other fields, expand people to people and cultural exchanges in education, health, youth and other areas, strengthen multilateral cooperation, safeguard international fairness and justice, and jointly address global challenges such as climate change. China's development of relations with Pacific island countries is aimed at strengthening South South cooperation and promoting common development. It has no geopolitical intentions, does not seek so-called "spheres of influence", and should not be subject to third-party interference. Pacific island countries are sovereign and independent nations, not anyone's' backyard ', and have the right to independently choose development partners.

Honipuvira expressed that the country attaches great importance to its relations with China and appreciates China's long-term positive assistance to the economic and social development of the Solomon Islands. We firmly adhere to the One China principle, Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. This is also a decision made by the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 2758. The brilliant achievements China has made are those made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC. China's development benefits the world, especially for developing countries such as Solomon Islands. China is the largest trading partner of the institute, and the two sides have reached dozens of memorandums of understanding on cooperation. They look forward to expanding trade and investment with China, deepening practical cooperation in education, infrastructure, healthcare, green development and other fields, and promoting the institute China relationship to a higher level. China's contributions to the cause of world peace and development should be remembered, and its experience is also worth learning from by all parties and Pacific island countries. We are willing to make positive efforts to deepen the relationship between Pacific island countries and China.
