Recently, Weichai Power's independently developed WP15 direct-injection heavy-duty hydrogen internal combustion engine passed the authoritative environmental emission certification from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), becoming the world's first heavy-duty hydrogen internal combustion engine to complete all core verifications for the China VI emission standards, laying a solid foundation for the zero-carbon commercialization of heavy equipment. This technological breakthrough is an important practice for the company to consolidate its core competitive advantage in new energy. Currently, the new energy industry is experiencing a window of opportunity for technological iteration and market expansion. Weichai Power adheres to a coordinated development strategy of "traditional energy + clean energy + new energy," building a green transformation system with multiple parallel technological routes.

In terms of new energy power systems, Weichai Power seized market opportunities and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with BYD in 2023 to jointly develop new energy power products for commercial vehicles. To date, the company has completed the development of a full range of next-generation electric drive products for heavy trucks, light trucks, buses, and construction machinery, forming a complete industrial chain of power batteries, motors, and electronic controls. Meanwhile, the Yantai New Energy Industrial Park provides support for the company's batch delivery and product quality. In 2025, Weichai New Energy Power's revenue reached 3.04 billion yuan, more than doubling year-on-year; in the first quarter of 2026, revenue reached 1.69 billion yuan, a significant year-on-year increase of approximately 200%.

Regarding solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), Weichai Power began systematically developing SOFC products after its strategic investment in UK-based Hilex in 2018. Currently, Weichai Power's SOFC power generation system has successfully passed EU CE certification, achieving a maximum power generation efficiency exceeding 65%, with performance indicators reaching international leading levels. In November 2025, Weichai Power and Hilex further strengthened their cooperation, realizing a full-industry chain layout for SOFC batteries, stacks, and systems. At present, SOFC products have been implemented in demonstration projects such as data centers and industrial parks. The company stated that it is accelerating capacity construction and plans to achieve mass production in 2026.

In addition, Weichai Power has been deeply involved in the hydrogen energy sector for many years, developing both hydrogen internal combustion engines and hydrogen fuel cells in parallel. On the one hand, Weichai Power has built a complete R&D and industrial system for hydrogen internal combustion engines, deploying multiple technology routes, creating a full-power product matrix, leading the industry's first national key R&D project on hydrogen internal combustion engines, achieving a new global record for thermal efficiency among similar products, jointly launching the first commercially available hydrogen internal combustion engine heavy-duty truck in China with China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, and achieving the first grid-connected operation of a pure hydrogen generator set in China. These achievements have led the industry's development. On the other hand, relying on the National Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Center, Weichai Power firmly grasps the core technologies of hydrogen fuel cells. Using the "Hydrogen to Every Household" technology demonstration project as a platform, it assumes the role of a "chain leader" in the industry, serving the hydrogen energy sector, promoting the improvement and development of the industrial chain, and leading China's hydrogen fuel cell industry forward.
