On July 20th, President Hassan presided over the opening ceremony of the cargo ship at Kigoma Port and the groundbreaking ceremony of the sixth section of the Central Standard Gauge Railway. Ambassador Chen Mingjian accompanied President Hassan to cut the ribbon and lay the foundation for the above-mentioned projects. Minister of Transport of Tanzania Mbalava, Governor of Kigoma Province Xiluo, and Counselor Chu Kun of our embassy attended.

President Hassan thanked the Chinese Embassy for its efforts in promoting cooperation between the two countries, appreciated the contributions of Chinese enterprises to Tanzania's transportation construction, and stated that the Tanzanian government will continue to be committed to building the East African regional transportation corridor, vigorously developing transportation infrastructure such as railways and shipping, and achieving rapid economic growth.

Kigoma cargo terminal is a key water transport hub from Tanzania to DRC and Burundi. Zijin Mining is the franchisor of the terminal and has invested in the construction of four cargo ships. The Central Standard Gauge Railway is the core backbone project of the Central East African Corridor, and China Civil Engineering is the contractor for the sixth section of the railway.Editor/Yang Meiling
