On July 20, 2026, the Inner Mongolia Starry Sky Intelligent Computing Data Center project was approved for filing, located in the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park of Helingeer New District, with a total investment of 450 million yuan. This computing power center with a total construction area of 6146.98 square meters is planned to build 200 30kW high-power cabinets to support scenarios such as intelligent computing big model inference, scientific research data analysis, and audio and video storage. The project is scheduled to start construction in October 2026 and be put into operation in October 2029.

200 30kW cabinet locking inference scenarios

The Starry Sky Intelligent Computing project adopts a 30kW high-density cabinet solution, which is higher than the industry average of 10-15kW for traditional data centers. The scale of 200 cabinets may not be large, but it focuses on the segment with the strongest demand for computing power - AI inference. In 2026, the domestic large model call volume has skyrocketed from about 114 trillion tokens in 2024 to about 400 trillion tokens, and the demand for inference computing power has exceeded training. The 30kW high-power cabinet is the standard configuration for large model inference scenarios.

Helingeer New Area is one of the most densely populated areas in this round of computing power construction. As of June 2026, the total scale of computing power in Hohhot has exceeded 125000 P, with intelligent computing power accounting for over 96%, attracting 66 enterprises to settle in. China Mobile, Huawei, Tiktok, China Telecom, China Unicom and other leading players have set up data centers here. Recently, the computing power projects in Helingeer New Area have been intensively implemented. The first phase of the Bank of Communications' 5 billion yuan metadata center was completed and delivered on July 20th, and the Oriental Guoxin 4.8 billion yuan project is expected to be completed within the year.
