The power of wind is being redefined
On July 10, 2026, at the construction site of the third phase of Hebei Huadian Xinji 500 MW wind power project, a 204 meter ultra-high unit was successfully installed, breaking the global record for the height of onshore steel-concrete wind turbine towers! The XCMG XGL3300-220S boom tower crane is responsible for undertaking this extremely difficult lifting task.
Prior to this, the height of onshore wind turbine towers in China was generally between 140 and 160 meters. 204 meters, equivalent to a 70 story building, is not just a refresh of numbers - the concrete and steel hybrid tower extends layer by layer at a height of 100 meters, and for every additional meter, the difficulty of lifting increases exponentially. In the lifting process, a hundred ton engine room and a 221 meter diameter impeller are lifted from a height of 204 meters, which requires extremely high requirements for lifting equipment and operational accuracy. The XCMG large tonnage boom crane is equipped with an automatic correction system, which automatically adjusts the lifting, amplitude, and rotation process to ensure that the heavy object does not sway or deviate at high altitude.

Precise lifting, a hardcore competition between tiny details
XCMG XGL3300-220S boom tower crane - with a maximum lifting capacity of 220 tons and a maximum lifting height exceeding 220 meters, it has firmly established the confidence for ultra-high operations from a hardware perspective. But what truly transforms lifting from 'possible' to 'precise' is a sophisticated micro motion control system.
In the split hoisting of the engine room, a micro motion speed of 5 millimeters per second and a point motion accuracy of 3 millimeters are used to smoothly lift, accurately rotate, and slowly lower the components, seamlessly embedding them into the predetermined position. The winch follow-up control technology intervenes in real-time, automatically adjusting the lifting, amplitude, and rotation throughout the entire process, ensuring smooth lifting and zero deviation positioning of the blades at the moment of leaving the ground.

Steady standing at high altitude, test of stability under extreme wind conditions
The North China Plain is flat, like a huge "wind farm" in midsummer. Above 204 meters, turbulent currents shuttle freely, and the wind conditions are much more complex than near the ground. The higher the tower, the larger the windward area. The XGL3300-220S, with its high load-bearing structure and strong wind resistance, can confidently face challenges - its wind resistance can reach level 6 in working conditions and level 10 in non working conditions, breaking the conventional practice of "lowering the tower when encountering strong winds". The high stiffness and super large cushion plate at the bottom of the support legs enhances the compaction of the foundation, effectively resisting lateral wind and stably supporting each crane.
204 meters is a new height for global onshore wind power and a new scale for XCMG equipment. After the project is fully operational, it is expected to generate approximately 200 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, saving over 60000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 160000 tons. All key equipment such as the core host, blades, and tower of the unit have been localized, with a localization rate of 100%.

This successful first lift comprehensively tested the reliability of XCMG XGL3300-220S under the triple extreme working conditions of "ultra-high, ultra large, and complex wind conditions". When we look up at the tower, it is a firm footprint of a great country climbing towards a green future. XCMG equipment continues to empower, and China's wind power is writing a new chapter in the cloud. Editor/Min Jing
