On the shores of the Black Sea, a revolution about the future of energy is brewing. Recently, the Romanian Ministry of Energy issued a draft that shifted the focus of development towards clean wind energy - officially designating the Black Sea offshore wind power concession area, declaring that this country with 76GW of wind energy potential has begun substantial exploration of the "blue oil field".

The first three major blocks were unveiled

The draft outlines a clear outline of the first phase of development in detail. A total of 3.1GW of installed capacity is planned for this stage, which is finely divided into three blocks. Among them, Block 1 has the largest area of 631 square kilometers and is expected to carry a power generation capacity of 1900MW; The areas of Block 2 and Block 3 are 149 square kilometers and 168 square kilometers, respectively, with a planned installed capacity of 600MW. The water depth in these areas ranges from 55 to 75 meters, and the geological conditions are ideal, making them very suitable for using currently mature fixed foundation wind turbines. More importantly, the site selection process has deliberately avoided ecologically sensitive areas, striving to achieve a balance between development and protection.

According to the roadmap released by the World Bank, the technological potential for development in the Black Sea region of Romania is astonishing, with a total of approximately 76GW. In addition to the initial fixed infrastructure technology potential of approximately 22GW, deeper waters also contain 54GW of wind energy resources suitable for floating technology. With the implementation of the draft, huge opportunities in the industrial chain will be opened up. The Ministry of Energy estimates that the entire black sea wind power industry will bring an added value of 16 billion to 27 billion euros to the Romanian economy.
