On July 25, 2026, 16 sets of energy storage units were laid out on the Gobi Desert in Songshan Town, Tianzhu County. On the same day, the Zhangye Tuanjie 330 kV substation had been running live for nearly three weeks. From energy storage power stations to ultra-high voltage hubs, Gansu's 15th Five Year Plan is starting with intensive development on the energy corridor of Hexi Corridor.

Add adjustment tools to the Hexi Corridor

The 200MW/800MWh grid side independent energy storage power station project (Phase I) of Guozong Green Energy Tianzhu Songshan Beach officially started construction on July 25th. The first phase of construction has a capacity of 100MW/400MWh and adopts the lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage route. It mainly constructs 16 sets of energy storage units, 1 330 kV booster station, and supporting collection lines. Tianzhu County is rich in wind and solar resources, with an annual effective wind energy storage capacity of over 1194 kilowatt hours per square meter. Currently, the county has built a new energy installed capacity of 1.3818 million kilowatts. After the energy storage power station is put into operation, it is expected to promote the consumption of about 105 million kilowatt hours of new energy electricity per year, which is equivalent to saving 32000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 82500 tons.

Just recently on July 5th, Zhangye Tuanjie 330kV substation was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation, with the construction of two 360MVA main transformers and three 330kV outgoing lines. At present, the total installed capacity of new energy in Zhangye has exceeded 7.5 million kilowatts, and the proportion of clean energy has reached 64.7%. After the substation is put into operation, the nearest industrial load access channel will be opened up to provide core power support for the circular economy industrial cluster in Zhangye Economic Development Zone.

New materials and high-speed rail accelerate synchronously

Project construction not only drives power infrastructure. The total investment of Gansu Juhua Silicon Fluoride New Material Integration Project is 41 billion yuan, which is currently the largest industrial project in Gansu Province. It has entered a new stage of main construction, with a cumulative investment of 4.89 billion yuan. It is planned to start trial production in the third quarter of 2026. After the completion of the project, it is expected that the annual industrial added value will reach over 32 billion yuan.

Transportation infrastructure is being promoted synchronously. The Wuzhang section of the Lanzhang Third and Fourth Line Railway is an important component of the national eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network, with a total length of 244 kilometers and a total investment of 24.855 billion yuan. It is planned to be put into operation by the end of 2027. The Jinchang Section 2 is constructed by China Railway First Group Co., Ltd. Currently, 38% of the total investment in the section has been completed, and the control project of the inclined dam river continuous beam is expected to be completed by the end of July.

On the Gobi Desert, the installation of energy storage equipment, the lifting of steel structures in factories, and the pouring of high-speed railway bridge piers are being carried out simultaneously.
