As the strong winds begin to gather energy in the Pacific, a silent defensive battle has quietly begun on the coast of the East China Sea. Faced with the raging typhoon, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power no longer relies solely on manpower to build embankments, but weaves a sky network composed of radar, satellites, and drones, redefining the power grid's disaster defense line with digital intelligence.

Intelligence Perspective: Measurable Clouds and Clouds

July to August each year is the active period of typhoons along the southeast coast. In response to the characteristics of Wenzhou's proximity to the Yangtze River and the sea, as well as its susceptibility to typhoons, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power has established a coordinated three-dimensional flood prevention network between land and ground, using digital capabilities to build a strong typhoon barrier for the power grid. The mobile typhoon observation vehicle integrated with wind profile radar, independent power supply, intelligent lightning protection and other equipment can operate stably in strong wind environments. By detecting high-altitude wind fields, accurately collecting meteorological data, effectively correcting typhoon prediction models, and improving warning accuracy.

Global monitoring and precise early warning

Relying on the typhoon warning intelligent platform, Zhejiang Electric Power has established a disaster prevention perception system for the entire province's power grid, deploying over 35000 sets of monitoring equipment, equipped with satellite stations, meteorological radars, and mobile observation vehicles. The system can output hourly forecasts for seven days in 5 minutes, reducing the prediction error of typhoon paths by 30 kilometers. At the same time, it can monitor disasters such as wildfires, icing, and severe convection. Natural disasters are the main cause of power grid failures, with typhoons having the most prominent impact. After the implementation of this intelligent system, it can reduce the losses caused by power grid disasters by 30% to 40%, greatly improving the disaster resilience of the power grid.

Unmanned inspection and intelligent prevention and control

In response to the complex mountain line inspection challenges in Cangnan, a drone power big data center has been built locally, equipped with multiple drones and automated machine nests, to achieve regular and autonomous line inspections. Relying on infrared and high-definition recognition technology to automatically identify hidden dangers, the inspection efficiency is 2 to 3 times higher than manual inspection. Using unmanned aerial vehicle LiDAR for 3D terrain modeling, quickly collecting terrain data, regularly comparing and analyzing, accurately predicting geological risks such as landslides and collapses, and providing data support for safe operation and maintenance of the power grid. At present, Zhejiang Electric Power has formed an integrated intelligent flood prevention mode for air and land, achieving risk prevention and early elimination of hidden dangers, and firmly guarding the bottom line of power grid safety through digital and intelligent means.Editor/Gong Ziwei
