In the first seven months, there were 74 contracts with a total amount of 734 million Omani riyals - behind this number is a clear signal for Oman to accelerate infrastructure construction under the framework of Vision 2040. From the supply of drugs and vaccines to the expansion of highways, from the construction of fishing ports to flood control projects, this Gulf country is using real money to make up for its development shortcomings, and also opening a new round of cooperation window for international contractors including Chinese enterprises.

Medical transportation occupies the largest share

In the first seven months of project awards, healthcare and transportation infrastructure dominated. The amount of the drug vaccine and serum supply project exceeds 200 million riyals, becoming the largest single contract of the same period, aiming to enhance the ability of medical supply guarantee. The expansion contract for the Muscat Expressway amounts to approximately 157 million riyals, and upon completion, it will alleviate traffic pressure in the capital. Other key roads include the third section of the Batina Expressway (21.7 million riyals), the Ibra two-way road (29.1 million riyals), and the first phase of the Rubhali Desert Highway (8.3 million riyals), which will strengthen transportation connectivity between Oman's provinces and neighboring countries.

Fishing port flood control fills the gaps in people's livelihoods

In addition to highways, Oman has awarded the Mahut Fishing Port project worth approximately 36.8 million riyals, located in the Central Province, which will drive the development of seafood processing, cold chain logistics, and supporting businesses. Faced with an increase in extreme weather, Oman plans to build flood control systems and dams in the provinces of Ibri, North East, Zofar, and North Batinah to enhance the disaster resilience of cities and industrial areas. Oman will also conduct bidding for laboratory reagents, medical consumables, and equipment from 2027 to 2029, while promoting the upgrade and maintenance of electronic medical platforms.
