When the green power in the Tengger Desert is about to cross mountains and rivers to Jiangxi, Gannan Power Grid is faced with the embarrassment of being able to get in and not fall behind - the transmission capacity of the north-south section is only 3.2 million kilowatts, unable to bear the east wind. Recently, a paper of approval from the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission has opened the deadlock. The 1000 kV Ganjiang to Gannan AC power transmission and transformation project has been officially approved, and it only took 20 days from approval application to obtaining approval.

7.2 billion yuan project activates Gannan power grid

As the first approved ultra-high voltage AC project in the Central China region during the 15th Five Year Plan period, the total investment in the feasibility study is 7.218 billion yuan, and it is expected to be completed by 2028. The project will build a 1000 kV Gannan substation with a transformer capacity of 6 million kVA; Build a double circuit 1000 kV AC line from Ganjiang to Gannan, with a length of 298.9 kilometers each, passing through Nanchang, Fuzhou, Ji'an, and Ganzhou.

After being put into operation, the maximum transmission capacity of the Gannan section will increase from the existing 3.2 million kilowatts to 6.5 million kilowatts, more than doubling. This means that the clean electricity sent by the Tengger Jiangxi Ultra High Voltage Direct Current Project can truly be obtained and transmitted, while also facilitating the export of new energy to the southern Jiangxi region.

The central Chinese Japanese ring network extends southward

The Nanyang Zhumadian project was approved and launched in 2018, and the Wuhan Huangshi Nanchang project will be put into operation in 2024. The Central China Japanese style ultra-high voltage AC ring network has gone through a six-year construction period. The Ganjiang Gannan project is a key longitudinal extension of this ring network to the south, which will further improve the Central China ultra-high voltage network and enhance the regional inter provincial power mutual aid and consumption capacity.
