In the heart of the Abu Dhabi desert, an uninterrupted clean energy heart will stand tall in the future. On this day, BYD officially signed a contract with Masdar Company in the United Arab Emirates to provide a complete energy storage system for the world's first all-weather gigawatt level integrated wind solar energy storage project. This is not only a commercial order, but also a landmark moment for China's high-end manufacturing to export energy infrastructure to the world. It also signifies that China's energy storage industry chain has global leading competitive advantages in system integration, safety performance, and extreme environmental adaptation.

The world's first 24-hour stable new energy power station

The project is jointly developed by Masdar and UAE Hydropower Corporation. It is the first gigawatt level integrated wind, solar and storage project in the world that can achieve 24-hour stable power supply, and it is also a comprehensive optical storage system with current scale and progressiveness technology ranking the forefront in the world. The overall configuration of the project is a 5.2 gigawatt photovoltaic power station, equipped with a total capacity of 19 gigawatt hours of battery energy storage system. By relying on photovoltaic power generation to increase the capacity of energy storage, it completely eliminates the inherent shortcomings of photovoltaic power generation such as inability to supply power at night and unstable output on rainy days, and continuously outputs stable and reliable base load clean energy. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will provide uninterrupted green power guarantee for the UAE power grid with globally competitive electricity prices.

Blade battery escorts extreme desert environments

BYD supplies 11.275 gigawatt hours of vast energy storage platform for this project, with an installed power of 1644 megawatts. The scale of single site supporting delivery is rare among global energy storage projects. The core is equipped with BYD's self-developed blade battery, which synchronously optimizes energy density and operational reliability in the product's underlying design, greatly simplifies the battery management system architecture, and fully adapts to the large-scale landing needs of large power plants. In response to extreme working conditions in the Middle East desert, the product has been specially optimized for environmental adaptation, and can operate stably in a wide temperature range of minus 30 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. The overall protection level of the machine reaches IP66, completely isolating sand and dust invasion, and can withstand harsh desert environments such as high temperature, drought, strong winds, and sandstorms for a long time. It fundamentally solves the equipment operation and maintenance problems of overseas desert energy storage power stations and significantly reduces the operating costs throughout the entire life cycle. Domestic energy storage solutions enter the global market

This project is another important milestone for BYD's energy storage overseas business. The entire integrated wind solar energy storage solution has strong replicability and can be promoted to other clean energy markets around the world in the future, providing stable, safe, and sustainable all-weather power supply solutions for various countries. Prior to this, BYD had just secured an order for a 12.5 gigawatt hour grid level energy storage project in Saudi Arabia, which is the world's largest energy storage project of its kind. This UAE project marks another milestone in China's energy storage industry, as two world-class energy storage projects in the Middle East have been successfully implemented in just a few months, marking a historic leap from exporting components to delivering complete sets of giant energy storage systems.
