Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated at a regular press conference on August 6th local time that Pakistan hopes to reach an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz issue to prompt the United States and Iran to restart negotiations based on the previously reached memorandum of understanding.  

Andrabi stated that easing the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz "will clearly create a favorable environment for all parties to return to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding," and reiterated Pakistan's support for peaceful resolution of regional disputes through dialogue.  

According to the US news website Akxios on the 4th, two regional sources and a US official stated that the US, Iran, and Oman are "close" to reaching a temporary agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.  

According to an informed source cited by Iran's Islamic Republic Broadcasting and Television on the 5th, negotiations regarding the navigation issue in the Strait of Hormuz are limited to Iran and Oman and have nothing to do with the United States. If the US continues to violate the previous memorandum of understanding with Iran, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed.
