Refuting unreasonable accusations

On August 11, 2026, at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament, the United States, along with some other countries, made a joint statement, baselessly accusing China of conducting a submarine launched intercontinental ballistic missile test in July. Chinese Ambassador for Disarmament Affairs Li Chijiang responded sternly on the spot, criticizing the US for abusing the conference platform for political manipulation and relying on the non binding Hague Code of Conduct to interfere with China's normal tests. China is not a member of this standard and is not bound by relevant provisions. It has proactively reported the test launch information in advance, and the entire process has been standardized and prudent without harming the interests of other countries.

Point out double standards

Li Chijiang pointed out that the US has no right to make irresponsible remarks about China. Among the five nuclear powers, China has only conducted three test launches of intercontinental missiles, which is the least. On the other hand, the United States frequently conducts intercontinental missile tests, continuously increases its nuclear arms construction, promotes nuclear sharing and extended deterrence, and continues to challenge the international security order. China has always pursued a defensive nuclear policy, maintaining its nuclear forces at the minimum necessary level and will not participate in a nuclear arms race.
