The wind of Pampas finally stirred the sleeping railway tracks. At a critical juncture of Argentina's economic transformation, freight railways are transitioning from fragmentation to franchising and reconstruction. Cross border channels and mining dedicated lines are breaking the ice simultaneously, and a new land trade network connecting the hinterland of South America is quietly emerging. In August 2026, Argentina's freight railway will usher in a new round of promotion. The Mile government is pushing for the separation and franchising of the three major freight lines in Belgrano Cargas. Multiple projects, including the Urquiza line repair in Brazil, the North Patagonian railway serving oil and gas producing areas, and the lithium copper mining branch line, have been put on the agenda simultaneously.

The 210 kilometer repair of the Urquiza line has secured funding from the Southern Common Market to repair rail bridges and connect Brazil's cross-border interface. The North Patagonian Railway has a total length of 665 kilometers and serves the transportation of oil and gas supplies in Wakamuelta. The construction period is 48 months. The Albard ó n-J á chal mining branch line has been included in the franchise operation, enhancing the freight capacity of the Saint Martin line and serving the transportation of mineral resources from the mining area. The C14 and C15 branch lines connect the ports of Chile and Bolivia. Two cross Andes railway lines require significant investment, but have not yet been approved or financed, and are still in the conceptual stage.
