On August 20th, the National Immigration Administration announced that from August 20th, 2026, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam can enjoy a 240 hour transit visa free policy and a 30 day entry visa free policy for Hainan. After this adjustment, the number of countries eligible for the 240 hour transit visa free policy has increased to 57, and the coverage of Hainan's 30 day entry visa free policy has increased to 61 countries.

Citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports and connecting tickets can transit through 65 ports nationwide for 240 hours without a visa, and can also enter Hainan port for 30 days without a visa. They can engage in short-term activities such as tourism, commerce, family visits, etc. Specific activities such as work and study abroad still require visa application in advance. This new policy will facilitate the exchange of personnel between China and foreign countries, and serve the country's high-level opening-up and development.Editor/Min Jing
