On the west edge of Horqin Sandy Land, sandstorms howl all the year round. A team braved the extreme cold of -26 ℃ and drove into the wilderness, erecting hundreds of wind turbines in the yellow sand. They turned the raging wind into stable electricity, transforming the barren land once ravaged by sandstorms into a million kilowatt level green energy fortress.

Million wind power successfully connected to the grid

Recently, the million kilowatt ecological governance wind power project in Wengniute Banner, Chifeng City, contracted and constructed by China Power Construction Beijing Institute, has successfully achieved full capacity grid connected power generation. This project belongs to the third batch of national key projects for large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases in the desert and Gobi regions. It is not only an important achievement in the construction of new energy in China's desert and Gobi areas, but also injects strong momentum into the construction of green power bases in eastern Mongolia. The total installed capacity of the project reaches 1 million kilowatts, with 113 large capacity wind turbines installed, covering a single capacity range of 7.7 megawatts to 10 megawatts. A 50 megawatt/100 megawatt hour energy storage system is synchronously constructed, as well as two 220 kV and 500 kV booster stations. The software and hardware configurations are complete, and the power generation and energy storage system is complete.

The answer sheet of the Shage Huang practical battle of the large unit

The project is located at the west edge of Horqin Sandy Land. The natural construction conditions are extremely harsh. The area is frequently windy and sandy all the year round, and the extreme low temperature in winter is as low as -26 ℃. At the same time, the variety of project models and the complexity of participating units have significantly increased the difficulty of construction coordination. In response to this, China Power Construction fully leverages the advantages of integrated EPC general contracting, establishes a collaborative management system that integrates design, procurement, and construction, breaks down barriers in various construction stages, and ensures efficient and orderly progress of the project. In response to the high-risk construction process of wind turbine hoisting, the project department independently innovatively developed a wind turbine hoisting forecast and warning system, established a dual safety guarantee system of "manual prevention and control+intelligent technical prevention", and successfully completed 113 wind turbine hoisting operations, achieving zero safety accidents throughout the process and high-quality construction standards. In response to the impact of extremely cold weather on civil construction, the team innovatively uses insulation sheds and electric heating construction technology to effectively resist low temperature interference, strictly guarantee the quality of concrete construction, and build a solid foundation for engineering construction.

Win win situation for both ecology and people's livelihood

Throughout the project construction, we adhere to the principle of ecological priority, uphold the construction concept of minimal intervention and maximum restoration, minimize damage to the original surface topography, and simultaneously carry out ecological restoration work. At the same time, the project prioritizes attracting local farmers and herdsmen to work nearby, driving people to increase their income and become prosperous, and achieving a win-win situation between ecological protection and people's livelihood development. After the project is officially put into operation, the average annual on grid electricity consumption can reach 3.246 billion kilowatt hours, saving 960000 tons of standard coal and reducing 2.59 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. This can effectively alleviate the pressure on regional power grid power transmission and provide solid energy support for China to steadily promote its dual carbon goals and build a new type of power system. The rise of the megawatt wind farm in Horqin Sandy Land marks the construction of China's Sago New Energy Base and a new stage of development with large units, coordinated storage and distribution, and high ecological standards. China Power Construction Corporation relies on intelligent technology to solve the problems of extreme cold and hoisting construction. With the integrated EPC model, it breaks through construction bottlenecks and achieves high-quality performance in harsh environments. It explores a new path for the integration of green power development and sand ecological governance, providing replicable and referenceable practical examples for the construction of similar new energy base projects in China.Editor/Gong Ziwei
