On the coast of the East China Sea, a world-class nuclear power base is accelerating from blueprint to reality. Jinqimen Nuclear Power, with Hualong One technology as its core, plans and promotes six units in batches, carrying the profound mission of energy structure transformation in Zhejiang and even East China. Nowadays, supporting projects have been implemented one after another, and the main construction is accelerating comprehensively. The future of clean energy is quietly taking shape.

Project Updates
After the approval of Units 3 and 4 of Jinqimen Nuclear Power Phase II, the project has made further progress. Recently, the temporary storage yard project for Units 1 and 2 of Jinqimen Nuclear Power Phase I, with a total investment of 40.4 billion yuan, announced the results of the winning bidders. The bidding results were in line with expectations, with two engineering units under the China National Nuclear Corporation taking the top two spots and winning the candidate seats with a low price advantage. As a national key nuclear power base, the supporting warehousing project is about to start, which will provide solid support for the storage of materials and on-site construction of the first phase of the main project.
Hualong One has landed in the East China Sea
Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant is located in Xiangshan County, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. It plans to build 6 million kilowatt nuclear power units, using advanced nuclear power technology such as Hualong One and 2.0 version. The project is planned and constructed in batches, with a total investment of 120 billion yuan, a total installed capacity of 7.2 million kilowatts, and an annual designed power generation of 55 billion kilowatt hours. At present, the first phase 1 and 2 units with an investment of 40.46 billion yuan have started construction comprehensively, and are planned to be put into commercial operation in 2030 and 2031 respectively.

Units 3 and 4 of Phase II have completed approval and are currently advancing preliminary work; Units 5 and 6 of Phase III are planned for the long term. The maximum price limit for the temporary storage project in this bidding is approximately 3.8845 million yuan. The winning bidder is responsible for the full chain construction of the project, from survey and design, civil construction to final acceptance. The main work includes pre project survey and scheme design. Covering a complete set of civil engineering content such as site foundation treatment, backfilling and hardening, and enclosure construction. Simultaneously undertake supporting work such as electrical installation, fire protection construction, equipment and system debugging. The project has a tight schedule, starting design in September 2026, construction in October, and completion in January 2027, with a total duration of 90 days. The site needs to be hardened according to the C-level storage standard to meet the standardized storage requirements for materials during the nuclear power construction period.

Preliminary determination of the engineering led pattern
Four consortia participated in the bidding for this project, and two units from China National Nuclear Corporation were successfully shortlisted. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) ranked as the first candidate for winning the bid with a quotation of 3.624 million yuan. The CNNC Huachen consortium ranked second with a quotation of 3.8442 million yuan. The other two bidding consortia were not included in the candidate list. The team of China National Nuclear Corporation has been deeply involved in this project for a long time, with high participation and sufficient experience. It is normal for them to be shortlisted this time. Among them, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has undertaken multiple Phase I sections, is familiar with project standards, and has outstanding construction advantages. Keywords: Jinqimen Nuclear Power, Hualong One, Energy Transition, Dual Carbon

This winning bid will help it seize more shares of the main project in the future and consolidate its leading position in project construction. After the project is fully completed, it will significantly enhance the power supply capacity of Zhejiang and East China power grids, alleviate electricity pressure, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and help achieve the dual carbon goals. The landing of the warehousing supporting project marks the comprehensive acceleration of the construction of the first phase of Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant. As an important energy strategic project in East China, the project is steadily advancing according to plan, closely targeting the target of being put into operation by 2030 and 2031. After the project is put into operation, it will continue to optimize the regional energy structure and inject clean energy into the high-quality development of the local area.Editor/Gong Ziwei
