On October 8, 2026, Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit 7, owned by China National Nuclear Corporation, completed its first grid connected power generation. The unit adopts third-generation nuclear power technology, with a design life of 60 years and an annual power generation of nearly 10 billion kilowatt hours per unit.
The Tianwan Nuclear Power Base plans to construct 8 million kilowatt level nuclear power units. Currently, Units 1-6 have been officially put into commercial operation, with a cumulative on grid electricity of over 500 billion kilowatt hours. Unit 7 is expected to be put into commercial operation within this year, and the under construction Unit 8 is planned to achieve commercial operation by 2027. After all the units are put into operation, the total installed capacity of Tianwan Base will exceed 9 million kilowatts, with an annual power generation of over 70 billion kilowatt hours, and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 57.4 million tons per year.
China Nuclear Power is closely focusing on the construction goals of major nuclear power projects, promoting the steady progress of nuclear power engineering construction through practical efforts, strictly implementing safety and quality control, and striving to complete the annual construction tasks. According to the engineering plan, China Nuclear Power will orderly promote key engineering nodes of key nuclear power projects such as Tianwan, Xudabao, Sanmen, and Zhangzhou, carry out key work such as unit hot testing, initial loading, and dome lifting, and ensure that the company's annual target tasks are achieved as scheduled. All projects work together and continue to tackle challenges, steadily advancing the construction of nuclear power projects through practical actions, and continuously injecting nuclear power momentum to ensure national energy security and promote green and low-carbon development.
