On August 25, 2026, Omani Foreign Minister Badr visited Tehran, Iran and had in-depth communication with Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghi. The dialogue between the two sides yielded positive and constructive results. Bader stated that the two countries are expected to soon announce a temporary navigation plan for the Strait of Hormuz and implement measures to ensure safe navigation in the strait.

The optimization of navigation management will be carried out in stages, with the temporary waterway restored to navigation order in the short term. Subsequently, in accordance with Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, we will continue to negotiate long-term management and permanent solutions for the strait.
