On August 28, 2026, the F-class 50 MW heavy-duty gas turbine independently developed by China was shipped to Kazakhstan. The heavy-duty gas turbine exported this time is the first domestically produced F-class heavy-duty gas turbine with completely independent intellectual property rights. The overseas export of complete machines marks a new stage of industrialization and internationalization for China's high-end heavy-duty gas turbines, moving from technology localization to industrialization.

Heavy duty gas turbines are the core and key equipment in the high-end equipment manufacturing field, and also an important supporting equipment for new power systems. Compared with traditional thermal power units of the same power, the F-class 50 MW heavy-duty gas turbine exported this time has outstanding comprehensive advantages. The whole machine is composed of more than 20000 precision components, and a single unit can generate more than 70000 kWh of electricity per hour. A single unit can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 500000 tons per year, with outstanding advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, low-carbon cleanliness, and flexible start stop, which is suitable for the construction needs of new power systems.

Li Hao, Deputy General Manager of Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd. of Dongfang Electric Group, introduced that currently, we have established a series of independent gas turbine products with multiple power levels, forming a complete industry chain capability from design and research and development to operation and maintenance, and promoting the transformation of Chinese gas turbine products from product output to comprehensive output of technology, service, and brand.

Behind the autonomous and controllable core equipment is the unremitting efforts of more than ten years of continuous tackling. Since 2009, China has officially initiated the core technology research and development of F-class heavy-duty gas turbines, and has successively overcome a series of bottleneck problems such as high-temperature materials, precision blades, and aerodynamic design. In 2023, the unit was successfully put into commercial operation, achieving the technical research and development, experimental verification, and localization of domestically produced F-class heavy-duty gas turbines, filling the gap in the high-end heavy-duty gas turbine equipment industry.
