On September 2, 2026, Russian President Putin met with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang during the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok.

Putin stated during the meeting that the close level of exchanges between Russia and China, including the contacts between the highest levels of the two countries, indicates that bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level.

Putin pointed out that the Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and China, signed on July 16, 2001, laid the foundation for bilateral relations, and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the treaty. At present, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides is flourishing in various directions, based on the principles of equality, mutual support on key issues, mutual understanding, and consideration of each other's interests

  Both sides subsequently attended the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

In terms of economic and trade cooperation, Putin pointed out that the scale of bilateral investment between Russia and China continues to expand, and cooperation in the energy sector continues to deepen.

In the past three years, the trade volume between the two countries has remained above 200 billion US dollars, and by 2025 it will approach 240 billion US dollars, laying a solid material foundation for cooperation between the two countries. He expects that the bilateral trade volume for the whole year will reach a new historical high.

Putin stated that both sides will jointly seek the best way to further develop economic and trade cooperation, achieve positive results, and further deepen the friendly relations between Russia and China.

It is reported that this is the second meeting between Putin and Ding Xuexiang. In June 2025, Ding Xuexiang attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Putin will also attend the plenary session of this year's Eastern Economic Forum with guests such as Ding Xuexiang.Editor/Cheng Liting
