The finished oil transport ship at Lagos port is sounding its horn and leaving the port, loaded with aviation kerosene just produced by Dangote Refinery. This batch of goods, which were sent directly from local refineries in Africa to Europe, relied almost entirely on overseas imports two years ago.
Now this refinery is offering a $14.3 billion expansion plan while signing IPO documents to open up this super industrial asset that is changing Nigeria's energy landscape to ordinary investors across Africa to share the profits.

In the first half of 2026, the after tax profit of refineries reached 1.82 billion US dollars, and from a loss of 476 million US dollars for the whole year of 2025 to achieving a large profit in the first half of the year, the rise speed of the African petrochemical industry far exceeded market expectations.
Production capacity doubles from 700000 barrels to 1.4 million barrels
The $14.3 billion expansion plan will increase the refinery's current processing capacity of 700000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day. After the comprehensive facility with a total construction cost of 20 billion US dollars is officially put into operation in 2024, it will directly end Nigeria's long-term dependence on imported refined oil products. The produced diesel, aviation oil and other products have been exported in bulk to African and European markets. With the structural gap in global refined oil supply in recent years, it has quickly completed capacity ramp up and profit conversion.
Public oriented IPO targeting investors from all over Africa
This IPO is expected to raise approximately 2.15 trillion naira, with a core positioning as a "public IPO" for ordinary retail investors, opening up participation channels to local, overseas, and all African investors in Nigeria. ADNOC in the United Arab Emirates has clearly expressed its investment intention, and the relevant details are subject to confidentiality agreements and have not been made public yet. The impressive performance of the refinery's $1.82 billion after tax profit in the first half of 2026 has laid a solid performance foundation for this public offering and made the wealth sharing path of iconic industrial assets in Africa clearer.

The next product oil tanker at the port is berthed for loading, and more and more oil products with the Dangote logo will be shipped to various parts of the world. The IPO and expansion plan of this largest refinery in Africa are landing simultaneously, creating a new energy industry benchmark for the African continent that combines industrial strength and public participation.
