On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged views on the search and rescue of disaster victims and bilateral cooperation, conveying the diplomatic warmth of mutual assistance.

Blazer stated that the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has been smooth over the 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the cooperation on multilateral platforms has been good. He looks forward to continuing to deepen communication. He thanked the Chinese side for timely reporting of the disaster situation, fully carrying out search and rescue operations, and comforting the families. The Latvian side is willing to cooperate in promoting follow-up work. Thirty three Latvian citizens were missing in this disaster.

Wang Yi extended condolences to the Lebanese side and the families of the missing persons, stating that China treats all Chinese and foreign personnel equally and is making every effort to search and rescue foreign missing persons. He pointed out that the traditional friendship between China and Latin America is profound, both sides are equal and trust each other, and the visa free policy promotes personnel exchanges. He is willing to take the opportunity of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to enrich the connotation of cooperation between the two countries and promote the continuous progress of bilateral relations.Editor/Min Jing
