South Korea has selected the Ensina Gas Power Station in Texas as its first candidate project for investment in the United States, with a total investment of 22.3 billion US dollars. The project focuses on the power supply of artificial intelligence data centers, adopting a phased construction plan, relying on local shale gas resources to ensure gas supply, and balancing power supply timeliness and power generation efficiency.

Project construction planning
The project has a total installed capacity of 6.3 gigawatts and will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will involve the construction of a 1.4 gigawatt gas turbine, followed by the addition of a 4.9 gigawatt combined cycle unit. The investment amount has been raised from the early 19.8 billion US dollars to 22.3 billion US dollars, while the previous demand from the US was 25 billion US dollars. The project is included in South Korea's investment framework of 350 billion US dollars in the United States, and South Korean Industry Minister Kim Jong eun stated that the agreement is expected to be announced this month.
Computing power supply and industry insights
The project is located in the Yingtan shale gas area of Texas, and electricity can be connected to the local power grid or directly supplied to the AI data center. The construction period of gas and electricity projects is short, which can alleviate the problem of lagging grid connection in computing power parks. This project also provides reference for domestic computing power supporting power construction.
