Accelerate the promotion of photovoltaic cooperation

The Pakistani Ministry of Energy recently held a special meeting, clarifying that cooperation in the photovoltaic field will be expanded based on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor 2.0 framework. Energy officials in Pakistan have stated that the country has ample sunlight resources and a significant electricity shortage. The government is introducing preferential policies to encourage foreign companies to build photovoltaic power plants and photovoltaic module processing plants in Pakistan. At present, multiple Chinese photovoltaic companies have visited Pakistan for on-site inspections, exploring the establishment of localized production lines in Pakistan to reduce the cost of importing photovoltaic equipment and meet the needs of Pakistan's local and surrounding South Asian markets. The Pakistani side hopes to leverage China's mature photovoltaic technology and industrial chain advantages to enhance its domestic new energy equipment manufacturing capabilities, which has high reference value for Chinese investors interested in laying out the new energy track in South Asia.

Chamber of Commerce docking mechanism to be established

The Standing Committee on Commerce of the Senate of Pakistan held a special meeting on September 25, 2026, focusing on the current situation of Pakistan's trade with China, foreign direct investment inflows, the construction of special economic zones, and the rising cost of domestic business. The meeting specifically discussed the establishment of an office by the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in China. Officials from the Pakistani Ministry of Commerce explained to the committee that according to relevant Chinese regulations, foreign chambers of commerce have the conditions to register and establish joint offices in China, but so far, Pakistani national chambers of commerce have not completed registration and landing in China. Senator Rahman raised a question during the meeting, pointing out that a large number of Pakistani businessmen engage in economic and trade activities in China, but lack the support of their official trade representative institutions, which is not conducive to bilateral business expansion. The attending members unanimously agreed that establishing a representative office of the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in China can effectively open up channels for Chinese and Pakistani enterprises to connect and help expand bus exports to China.
