A cross-border cooperation focusing on geographic information technology is unfolding in the hinterland of Southeast Asia, with experts from both countries using satellite remote sensing and digital surveying as a link to inject technological momentum into neighboring countries' land governance, bringing new vitality to the ancient land in the digital age.

Seminar held

On October 12, 2026, a seminar and exchange meeting on deepening land management technology cooperation between Laos and China was held in Vientiane, Laos. The conference theme is the application of geographic information technology in land management and development in Laos, co hosted by the Land Management and Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Laos and the Natural Resources Department of Yunnan Province, China.

Conduct exchange and discussion

The meeting was co chaired by Kilasay Guomira, Deputy Director of the Land Management and Development Department of Laos, and Jinbaoxuan, Deputy Director of the Natural Resources Department of Yunnan Province. The Yunnan delegation, relevant departments of Laos, local institutions, and technical personnel from enterprises attended the conference. Both parties introduced the situation of land management and domestic practical experience, discussed the construction of an international joint laboratory, and determined Saiben County in Savannakhet Province as a pilot for land management, promoting land monitoring, demarcation, and property registration. Sign a memorandum of cooperation

At the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed on-site, which had already been signed online. The two deputy directors of both sides signed on behalf of their respective units, and representatives from relevant departments of both countries witnessed the signing.
