In the meeting room, representatives from CRRC presented the latest progress of the smart rail train project to the Minister of Transport of Sarawak, detailing the technical specifications and delivery plan one by one. This smart rail experience accumulated in Kuching is being promoted to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and even more overseas markets, becoming a replicable model for green travel.

Experience in expanding overseas territory
Recently, Hunan CRRC Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. paid a visit to Datuk Seri Li Jingsheng, the Minister of Transport of Saudi Arabia, to report on the latest progress of the Kuching Smart Rail Train project and the development of technology in the international market. The accumulated technical experience and specification requirements of the Kuching project have become important references for CRRC to promote smart rail technology to the international market. The specifications adopted in the project have been used as a reference for CRRC to propose technical solutions for the Hong Kong Kai Tak Smart Green Collective Transport System. Smart rail technology has been applied in multiple cities in China, including Zhuzhou, Yibin, Changsha, Xi'an, Harbin, and Shanghai. Overseas, it has landed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Local trains have been specially improved to adapt to extreme high temperature environments, and additional orders have been placed for the project. The delegation also revealed plans to conduct tests in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, to continue expanding into the Brazilian and Argentine markets. Li Jingsheng stated that the Kuching project not only promotes the modernization of public transportation in Sarawak, but its experience has also become an important reference for the development of similar transportation systems in other regions. Speed up production capacity to ensure delivery
Mobilus Director and CEO Chen Zhijian reported to the minister on the progress of production, testing, and delivery of Kuching smart rail trains. The train has completed type testing at a testing institution in Chongqing, China, covering braking performance and technical and safety requirements, all of which have passed smoothly. The report was obtained this week. The production work has returned to the right track. The third and fourth trains are expected to undergo pre delivery inspection in December 2026, with the goal of completing the production of six ART trains by the end of 2026. Two trains have already been delivered, and the remaining four trains are actively being arranged to arrive in Sarawak before the end of the year. Li Jingsheng emphasized the need to strictly control the technical quality and safety standards. The meeting also discussed the local assembly plan for all components, aiming to establish local assembly capabilities and create opportunities for technology transfer and talent training for Sarawak, gradually promoting Kuching to become a regional hub for smart rail assembly. The total length of Kuching's urban transportation system is 69.9 kilometers, covering 35 stations on the blue, red, and green lines. The first phase of the route map was released on December 16, 2022, and the first hydrogen powered smart rail prototype vehicle will be received in 2023, completing engineering trials and concept verification tests.Editor/Min Jing
