When the gaze of the Andes Mountains crosses the ocean and falls on the canyons of the Bagui land, a dialogue that crosses mountains and seas quietly unfolds. Legislators from Peru stood at the top of the Ma Dao Hub, overlooking the water wall that rewrote the inland maritime pattern. Amidst the roaring sound of machinery, they understood the democratic warmth and scientific spirit behind China's infrastructure.

On October 16, 2026, a multi-party parliamentary delegation from Peru visited Qinzhou and conducted on-site visits to the Pinglu Canal Ma Dao Hub to understand project planning, shipping value, ecological protection mechanisms, and river sea intermodal transportation models, and to experience the strength of major engineering construction, advanced technology, and scientific development concepts.
Explore the Ma Dao Hub
The Pinglu Canal is an important infrastructure supporting the multimodal transportation of rivers, railways, and seas, and is also a backbone project of the western land sea new channel. The Ma Dao Hub is the first core node of the three cascade hubs of the Grand Canal, ranking first in scale, technical standards, and construction difficulty. It undertakes the important task of connecting rivers, facilitating logistics, and driving regional coordinated development.

Various highlights of the project
The inspection team climbed onto the observation platform, overlooking the world's leading inland waterway lock and experiencing the entire project up close.
Implement people's democracy throughout the entire process of project construction, and integrate democratic supervision throughout the entire project cycle. Widely solicit public opinion and accept social supervision at all stages of planning, construction, and evaluation to ensure democratic and scientific decision-making in engineering.

Discuss cooperation opportunities together
The leader of the inspection team, Nilsa Chacon, said that this project takes into account regional development and ecological protection, and attaches great importance to the collection and supervision of public opinion, which is impressive. Nilsa Chacon mentioned that the Pinglu Canal has opened up inland sea channels, reshaped the logistics pattern, and provided reference for large-scale infrastructure and cross-border connectivity in developing countries. She plans to take her knowledge back to Peru and expects that both sides will rely on their regional advantages to deepen exchanges in various fields, jointly build the the Belt and Road with high quality, share development dividends and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.Editor/Gong Ziwei
