When the millennium old city in the Red River Delta undergoes underground transformation, five steel arteries are about to penetrate the thick soil layer, quietly stitching together the airport, commercial district, and new area. Without the noisy groundbreaking ceremony, a silent battle to rewrite the Southeast Asian rail transit map has already begun.

Recently, the Hanoi Metro Management Committee in Vietnam signed a general contract with Vinhomes SGC consortium to construct 5 subway lines, with a total investment of approximately 34.8 billion US dollars, including design, supply, and construction delivery, but excluding land acquisition and relocation costs. The consortium is composed of Vinhomes and SGC companies, and the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2030.

The route connects key areas such as airports, commercial districts, and new districts to enhance public transportation capacity, alleviate congestion, expand urban space, and drive the development of Hanoi. In order to complete the project on schedule, over 100 shield tunneling machines, supporting excavation equipment, and a large number of transport vehicles were deployed for synchronous construction at multiple points. The consortium will collaborate with international consulting and tunnel engineering organizations to promote construction, and leading rail transit enterprises will provide strong support. The project has finalized Alstom's supply of 200 new subway trains. This project is a large-scale rail transit project in Southeast Asia recently, with large-scale shield tunneling synchronous construction, and has become a benchmark project of its kind in the world.Editor/Gong Ziwei
